Um, I hated Lord Jim and I would like to have those 16 hours of my life back.

i like reading the classics. i've read both Lord Jim and Heart of Darkness and remember that i enjoyed them. as with many books written in previous generations and previous centuries, it usually takes some discipline to get through the style of writing. i think the most easily read books that to me are thoroughly enjoyable are those by Dickens.

I have read Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad.

It was damn confusing and pretty hard to read. However after a few attempts I got it. I thought the book was ok. The first half was boring, but in the end everything was getting tied together and made it interesting.

Josheph's work is more abstract.

I like more modern fiction like the mystery books by Len Dieghton, especially the ones featuring Bernard Sampson.
