I was just browsing the egg, and came across this, I know it doesn't have DVI, which is something i've always wanted (or thought I did) but I thought the rest of the monitor looked pretty good considering the price, what do you guys think about it? I'm using a 17' Dell CRT now, so do you think this would be an improvement or a downgrade? (from a gamers perspective, world fo warcraft, doom 3, unreal 2k4, rome, etc...) thanks guys! 🙂

edit: LINKAGE!

I was about to jump on that deal but went with the Hyundai L90D+ (19", 8ms and DVI). I knew I wouldn't be able to push too many new monitors past my wife so I got what I really wanted. If I had to get a cheaper one, the 710N was the one I was going to get.

I upgraded from a 17" crt as well and don't have much experience playing on other LCD's so I can't tell you for sure how much you'll like either one. Just remember that, to keep the picture as clear as possible, especially with analog input only, you'll want to fix your resolution at 1280x1024. Not sure my eyes would be able to deal with that crammed on a 17" screen.

UT2K4, CoD, RTCW and ET all look great, BFV not as great since it doesn't support 1280x1024. The game plays great but the text is a bit fuzzy (I've only hooked up mine with analog so far, waiting to get used to what that does before I plug in the DVI to see how much of a difference there really is).

Our setups are pretty similar except for the card - I'm on a 9600pro so you should be better able to push out those pixels.

Check through all revies on Egg and the threads here - lots of people talking LCD's.

its definitely a upgrade, your gaining a ton of desktop landscape- a 17" CRT is smaller than a 17" lcd- and anything below 16ms is playable. i think your decision should be based on how much room you have on your desk. i write papers alot and have tons of crap on my desk so having the extra desk room in my dorm helps but if you have plenty of room why not go for a good 19" CRT that will be your best bet for gaming

I've got one of those L desks that go in the corner of a room, so space is not an issue. I just don't want to dish out more than $200 for something and have it be "teh suxorz" Just looking for your opinions on the monitor 🙂
