Looks like a killer to me! If money is no object, then you've done well. If you'd like to save $$ to get similar performance, just ask and we can adjust your specs.

Yeah man, that looks like a pretty good setup, but it's really gonna hurt, right in the wallet.

If you wanna save some bucks, we could sho' 'nuff help you get your bottom line down.

Why not an AMD64 instead of the Intel? Faster and better on performance per dollar :)

Hi.

I did think about an FX 53 based system with all the same specs except for: SK8V motherboard with Registered ECC ram.

If you can advice me on other options this will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Hearty agreement there. I have a 19" lcd myself and use it like my TV. You'll kick yourself later for not getting a bigger monitor.

And IMO, the P4EE's are huge rip offs. Great performance, but so overpriced it's not even funny. You could do as well with a 30 cap 2.8C and overclock the hell out of it.

For your apparent price range, however, I say go with the AFX-53. Also consider the CoolerMaster Stacker as a large, well cooled case great for overclocking and expandability.

Good choice on everything else, except perhaps the logitech's (I have the Promedia Ultra's and am a diehard Klipsch fan).

That is one sweet rig there man.

I agree, I suggest going Athlon 64. Also, I second going with a 2001FP or at least something bigger than what you have. Well actually, just buy a nice projector instead of it, or maybe a large HDTV of osme sort.

My final comment is to maybe wait a month if you can and try to get one of the new Socket 939 Athlon 64s. I think they're coming out with a newer FX chip which will hand it to that EE chip.

Go for an Athlon proc on the new 939 boards (out fairly soon) - not sure if they need registered RAM.
They should be out soon, and since you have a 6800Ultra listed as a part, I'm guessing you're not planning on having the system right now anyway, so go for 939 soon.

A64 on 939 w/ X800 Pro-Platnum-Limited-Special-Extreme-Edition

AND
PCI Radeon 9000 All In Wonder

OR
since you have to wait for the motherboards anyway see if SiS will make a mobo with both a PCIe slot AND an AGP slot, said northbridge is to be released; theres an article mentioning it somewhere on anandtech.

then maybe x800 PPLSEE + 9600AIW.

m-audio revolution 7.1 instead of audigy and a kick ass dvd sound system

and water cool the rig.

maybe dual core m's would replace this system next year?

Hi.

Thanks for the advice.

I have been waiting a while, but you are always waiting with regards to PC hardware.

I do like the FX53 though, the reason i have chosen the EE is because it sells for $999.00 Aussie dollars.
The FX sells for $1595.00 so quite a bit of difference.

I wish i lived in the States like you guys.

PC hardware is so cheap in comparison. Australia pays some of the highest prices in the world for gear.

I have also considered the 1066FSB Prescotts that are due in Q3 with the I925XE chipset.

Imagine the speed of the 3.46Extreme Edition with 1066FSB on the new Alderwood chipset.

As for the LCD i think i will go for a 21" , it wll be worth it in the end. When i crank up Doom 3 and HL2

Thanks guys.

Can you please tell me how to post pics on this forum??

By the way, we can get the 6800 Ultrs by leadtek for $839.00 Australian.

Cheers

Looks like a Falcon NW setup or something similar. Should be great for gaming and anything else you throw at it.

If the system is for gaming, definately go with the Athlon 64. All the latest benchmarks show that the Athlon 64 is way better than anything else out there for gaming.

The Socket 754 3400+ comes very close to the FX-53 in most benchmarks, so if you're looking to save a little money that can be had for $400 in the US.

For example, the performance charts from AnandTech for Halo: http://images.anandtech.com/graphs/amd%20athlon%202800%20newcastle_04260450451/1972.png
(You may have to cut and paste for this to work)

Very nice config over there but since you plan to use it for gaming, you should seriously consider a Athlon 64 like others have said. Anyway, enjoy your new PC. :)
