Hi all

I was having a problem with my gainward 6800gt a little while and decided to RMA it. now i am given the choice to get a different brand as they are not shipping the gainwards anymore. the choice i have is between a asus 6800gt or a XFX 6800gt. which would you choose????

thanks!!!

I may be biased but I've found that ASUS makes great products with nice game bundles. They're usually more money but you get what you pay for. Go the ASUS route.🙂

I have heard that xfx is one of the worst video card manufacturers. People tend to like ASUS. I would get the Asus over the XFX.

remember the asus 6800gt may be the 128mb 6800 card with ddr3 memory that they call a GT. If that is indeed the case, obviously get the XFX. Find out first, but if they do not specify, then i would get the xfx to be sure i was getting a real GT.

hi

i insisted that i want 256mb ram as that is what i paid for intially. they said that is what i would get with either brand.., i told them asus is my choice, just wanted to confirm my decision therefore posted this forum...,

Thanks ALL!!!!

XFX. No reason other than I have about 10 6600gt's at the office. No trouble with them.

I forget who made it but I got a 6800 pci-e in a box in the other room. Waiting for the IT guy to put a box together for me. It weights about 12 lbs with all the copper on it.

Well, you seem to be one of the lucky ones, as I currently have an XFX 6800GT, and although this one works fine, I've had 3 others that haven't. Some have had good luck with XFX, but from what I can tell, there are many that haven't. This is not the case with ASUS, as while their antics with confusing customers is kinda bunk, if you know what you're getting, then it should be perfectly fine. THE FIRST TIME AROUND. Ah well, if it works for ya, great, but I'm just basing my recommendation on personal experience, as I too have had an ASUS card, and no problems to report.

I wouldn't get either. I read in a PC Gamer article that the ASUS 6800 GT was a 12 piper. Just a 6800 Vanilla replaced with DDR3 Ram and clocked to GT Speeds. XFX is garbage too.

there are like 3 different 6800gts from asus. 1 256mb 12pip2, 1 128mb 16pipe and 1 256mb 16pipe. just make sure you buy the right one.

Didn't know that. Glad to know you can trust them then.
