But that is how he got to the forefront here in NYC I have seen him have dinner with all the people he demonizes in his speeches. All of the So-called black political leaders in NY used race but then they see that it gets them nothing and they drop it hell even Farakhan (sp?) has backed off from some of his comments

Because he is the Rev. Al Sharpton, and they teach you in preacher school that when you are unable to debate your point using logic, you use the "preacher voice" to enhance your percieved importance. It's also useful for drowning out others when they are attempting to put forth an opposing point of view.

Personally, I think he's a fruitloop. Occasionally entertaining, but mostly bigoted and small-minded.

Exactly, he's not racist but he will use race as a weapon. And that's true, most non-white political leaders had to step back from the extreme racial comments in order to have any credibility, which is unfortunate because race relations have improved, but there's always room for improvement.

As a weird aside, my boyfriend keeps saying he's pro-Sharpton for President... I don't know if he's saying that to irritate me, but he's said it a few times
