Your job position vs. co-workers - do same work?

Does anyone else in IT have a lower job title/position than others you work with, yet your boss expects you to do the exact same type and amount of work? If so, what do you think of that? Say maybe your boss has a bunch of jobs that need done, and expects you to do the same #, in the same amount of time as the others?
Or maybe what about if he expects you to work the same amount of overtime as them?

I would comment, but I think that the person who is above me has started to read my posts on this forum, lol.

Honestly. It sucks... However, its life. You are the low man on the totem pole.

The only way to get higher on that totem pole is to do the jobs everybody else is doing (and do them better, faster, etc)... For awhile you will still be the low man on the pole, however, management will notice (sometime or another, it may take a year), and you will be promoted.

However, if you get bitter/disgruntled about it, then you are shooting yourself in the foot. Then the only real option is to quit and try again somewhere else.

The key is not to compare yourself to others, but to just do your job... One of the "secrets" to success, is to come in 10 minutes early, and leave 10 minutes after your shift ends. Most people come in last second, and leave right when the bell rings. If you just add those extra 20 minutes to your shift on your own, management will be "damn that boy's good! we need give him a raise or promotion." Its just little perception like that can change everything, but in those extra 20 minutes just fart around and be lazy. It won't matter, they will still like you.

Well, I would expect the OP to read all the posts in his thread.

Actually in my case, I've been there 10 years, and longer than one of the other guys (there are only 4 of us), but that guy ended up with a higher up position and much higher pay, but because he was a contractor at first (which much higher pay), when his contract ended, he was given a high pay/position (above mine) to keep him. One of the other people has only been here 3 years more than me, and has been in a higher position than my current one, for longer than 3 years. I haven't been given a higher position mainly because there has to be one available first.

I was curious to see how many other people have the same problem.
