Your iPhone vs. your iPad

I just became the proud owner of an iPad 2 16gb wi-fi (Great deal on Craig's List). I also have an iPhone 6 64gb.

1. How is your iPad set up differently than your iPhone (differences in apps, layout, accounts)?

2. What are the differences between how you use your iPad and your iPhone?

Set up the same, however the phone is only used when on the go or when my iPad is out of reach. At home surfing, I'm using my iPad.

I'm curious. What OS are you running. If iOS 8.1.2, how is it in terms of performance?

8.0 was quite slow IMO, but when I played with an iPad mini with 8.1.2, it wasn't too bad.

Currently I'm still on 7.1.2 on my iPad 2 though.

I have a different but overlapping set of applications for some stuff since I don't use them the same. I rarely watch video on my iPhone for example, so while I have Netflix and network TV apps loaded, they are not prominently located. I use Netflix all the time on my iPad Air 2, so it is a front page app and not in a folder.

I do not notice any speed issues with the iPad 2 running 8.1.2. Seems just as responsive as my iPhone 6. I think the last 2 updates addressed a lot of speed issues with older devices.

Aside from being a phone (duh), my iPhone tends to get used more as a reference tool more than anything else. Checking emails, checking the weather/traffic, browsing Twitter, looking up prices when I'm shopping, and listening to podcasts.

I use my iPad to browse the web and watch videos mostly. It's easier to type on, so it gets used for email and note taking as well.

I don't really use either to play games anymore. I got bored of all the good ones long ago. Now the app store is just flooded with more shovelware than there's ever been, and there's always been a lot.

The apps of my iPhone are divided into SNS Music News and Tool. I watch videos and play games on my iPad. Besides, I never use iPad to take photos...

I deny notifications to all apps on my iPad. They are disruptive and I get important notifications on my iPhone already. Whether working or playing, it's a lot more enjoyable that way.

I even disable notifications for native apps like iMessage.

In addition, I pretty much always have silent mode enabled. It's annoying when I get a phone call through continuity and it rings out loud through my iPad. Even though I turned my phone on silent mode.

On your iPad, go to FaceTime and turn off Cell notification, or whatever it's called.

Who the hell wants their iPad to ring whenever there is an incoming call on a nearby iPhone?

Had my phone silenced this morning and the &!&/@#*ing ring came through the AppleTV. Even if I was still watching the video I was connected over AirPlay to watch, I silenced my phone for a damned reason and I don't want EVERYTHING I am doing on any device to come to a halt while I sit there and wait for a phone call to stop ringing.

Oh, and PayPal's iOS app says I have to have Bluetooth and Notifications enabled to use a "Pay here" feature of some kind and the app insists that I have notifications turned off even though I DON'T.
