I usually have outside air brought in (no recycling), with head and feet on, and fan at the second speed setting. For air conditioning, turn recycling on, change to head only and speed setting to one or two.

So what are your settings, I feel everyone has a unique schema.

When not using A/C, I turn off recycle air and have it turn to head only as well. When A/C is turned on, I have it recycle air and full blast... after a few minutes, I turn it to speed level 3 (whatever the hell that is).

In the muggy summer whern it's 85-90F outside and the car has been in the sun all day I usually go full Auto at 72F (full blast) with head and feet on.
When it has cooled down a turn it down to 3 (50%), gives a nice breeze without the sound.
I keep head + foot.

AC = Head + Feet. #3 setting to cool down at first and then switch to #1
Heat = Head. #2 setting. Switch to windshield defogger as necessary.

A/C on full blast whenever it's warmer than about 60-65°F outside. Heater when it's below about 35 (which is very rarely).

Edit: In between, I usually open the sunroof and/or some windows.

Winter=windows up, heat on if cold. Maybe windows down on a mild day.
Summer=windows down if cruising below 45 mph. Freeway speeds=window up, fresh air or AC if necessary.

Usually this is on head and feet setting.
