I imagine most are taller than their folks. One of my parents died before I finished puberty, but I'm voting based on verbal accounts of their height.

Are you sure that's your mom and dad ? :D

I've demanded they show me my adoption papers, but they refuse [to admit] their existence. ;)

Let me "translate" for my brethren ;)

Dad 5'11"
Mom 5'7"
me 6'4"

I'd have "translated" it myself but I still can't get my head around the imperial system.
How many inches are there in a foot again? 12 or something?

Are you Asian? A lot of first-generation Asians are much taller than their parents, possibly because their parents didn't have a big supply of calcium growing up (ie. the western world's high milk consumption).

Yeah 12... we know the metric system makes more sense, but it's a lot like a language - once you learn it one way it's extremely difficult to make another feel natural.

taller than both. me = 6', dad = 5'7, mom = 5'5

I attribute it to my growing up in America and their growing up in India (i.e. I had better nutrition etc through my formative years)

I'm about 2-2.5" taller than my dad, and about 6-7" taller than my mom. I'm 5'11".

Yeah. When I was in elementary school, in like grades 2-4, the school system was insistent upon teaching both the metric and imperial systems of measurement. It was horrible :) I never really became comfortable with metric.
