Seems appropriate for 31/12 that we should take a moment to reflect on the games of 2011.

So what's your favorite game of 2011 and why?

My pick will be The Witcher 2.

Great story. Picks up nicely after TW1. Love the graphics and scenery. Good voice acting. Very good combat system, that is more than just hitting the awesome button repeatedly. Still feels like a real RPG even if it is 'action RPG'

Not too sure; DKS or witcher 2 I guess. Definitely NOT skyrim. I would lean towards Metro2033 (or was that last year) cept it was very very short - and kind of hard to tell if it would have held up if it had been 20 hours longer. Dead Space 2 was also fun but also too short.

Hum. I guess Witcher 2 even though I'm not sure it really was game of the year (I enjoyed DKS more but no one will go for that one)

I liked 3 games: they are all different so it's hard to decide between them.

1) SpaceChem
2) Witcher 2
3) Shogun 2

Skyrim, even though I started it December 24th.

Its less than perfect especially with regard to quest bugs, but it gives you that warm glowing feeling when you first step outside and realize the whole world is yours to explore and you KNOW, FOR A FACT, you're going to have fun. Frankly thats something I only get with Bethesda games these days so you better believe I appreciate it.

Battlefield 3, case closed. The bar has now been set so high for other military FPS games... and BTK is just the icing on the cake.

Skyrim and The Witcher 2 are honorable mentions.

I hate sounding Cliche but..... Skyrim.

I can't comment about BF3 or AC because I havent tried them yet.

Skyrim or possibly New Vegas DLC. I'm a sucker for fun-to-explore worlds.

I purchased BF3, and it could be a contender. I LOVED BF:BC2, but Skyrim kept me glued, and I haven't got beyond installing BF3. :)

Great year for games!

I know I'll be in the minority of one, as usual, but... Serious Sam 3:BFE.

I've had the most fun with Batman: Arkham City.

I haven't played Skyrim yet, though, so I don't feel fully qualified to judge.

Skyrim for me. Edit: Pre-Loaded it and counted down to activation with my Grandson over the phone (he is 14 and lives out of state). Let him play if first, then I played it. Neither of us was disappointed.

Have to agree with that. It seems there are 2 or 3 main models for big games these days: EA and their every-sports-game-is-Madden and FPS-on-rails stuff, and Bethesda with TES or Fallout series. Either D&D setting or Apocalyptic wasteland, it's pretty much the same soul. And I much prefer that one.

Yes, there are other types of games out there, certainly--but isn't it odd that being around so long and only putting out about a dozen games, Bethesda still remains their own studio and continue to be successful despite releasing horribly buggy and broken games? lol.

Anyway, the only new games of this year, that I own, are Skyrim, Rage, Shogun 2 was this year? and SPAZ.

I haven't been able to get Rage to actually load, yet, so can't comment, lol. I love all those other games, but Skyrim is simply a marvel, despite it's rough edges. And as I've said it before, this from a guy that tends to dislike TES games.

There were some good games this year.

DX:HR, Witcher 2, Skyrim. But if we are talking best overall and I classify best as not only most enjoyment but most longevity in enjoyment.

BF3 MP by a landslide. Best FPS since CS imo.

Sonic Generations, though it's only one of two 2011 games I've played, the other being Portal 2.
