your first thots on doom 3?

hey, just wanted to know what ur thoughts are on the pre-release alpha (leak) of doom3, if u've played it....

I find the game awwweeesome, far better than any FPS yet.

the game gives me max 60fps and a min of 15fps, with an avg of 40fps on my 9500pro/xp2100+ setup..
jest wanted to know what rates u ppl out there were gettin ?

also, i've hrd that the final ver will be run almost thrice (!!!) as fast as this one, which translates into 100+ FPS for me !

any comments ?

P.S: just in case u like 'playing' 3dmark, and wanna compare, i get 12,501 on 3dmark 2001SE.

Gameplay is everything IMO, and Doom III hasn't demonstrated anything exceptional thus far. ID's previous single player efforts haven't been bad, not great either. I'll be waiting for Deus Ex 2 for a well-rounded DX8 game.

Doom III hasn't demonstrated ...?! It's a leaked one-year-old ALPHA version, for crying out loud. Here, try Quake 4 pre-alpha, see if you like it. Give iD software a break, don't judge them by stolen/leaked alpha versions. I do think that since Doom they didn't have an exciting game for me to play.

Quake 1 sucked hairy monkey balls is what it did!
It didn't feel as realistic as Doom despite all its polygonal texturemappings 🙂

Agreed, and Quake2 single-player was a bit boring though purty-looking once I upgraded to a voodoo3. Q2 multiplayer was sweetness incarnate (and incarnage, thanks to incarmack).
 
How can you poepole even judge Doom III yet, it was an ALPHA leak, and it wasn't even full levels, much less a full game!!!

The final game will be nothing like what anyone has seen or played yet, what you saw was just DEMOS!

Sheesh, you people...
 
I think Doom III is gonna SUCK as bad as Unreal II sucks. 😛

HOWEVER, the gamers' EXPECTATIONS of DoomIII being the equivalent of the (gaming) return of christ is bound to have SOME DISAPPOINTMENT. 😉
