lately i've been shedding a few candy progs and i'm looking to download
and toy around with some apps that may prove to have some staying power.

i also want to use this thread to share a few useful or fancy apps
that others may enjoy. please contribute a few mentionables, perhaps
provide a link, to your favorite apps.

tacmi's pixia - freeware grahic editor. simply awesome (japanese prog).

lurawave. german. graphic viewer and image converter. pure lossless
compression for superior graphic images. improvement over jpeg.

startup cop. freeware startup/uninstall manager. msconfig startup upgrade.

sam spade for windows v1.14. master network query tool.

Well I use Getright, distributed.net client (it just looks so nice :) ), trillian for messaging, more but I can't really think of them all right now.

Trillian is good if you chat on multiple networks (ICQ, AIM, IRC). I just use AIM so it seems a bit overkill.

Wow, Sam Spade is a GREAT prog! I'm never going to register.com to look up a domain again.

i tried mlin's startup control a while back. i liked it for a while but its
novelty waned and i uninstalled it. his mousetrap prog, which i don't nothing
about, brought to mind another proggy called mouseshifter. this is a cool
little app that allows for mouse cursor screen wrap. your mouse will never
bump into any more barriers against the sides of your screen.

mouseshifter v1.22 - freeware

Trillian. It's great as a multiple chat prog. It still lacks in functionality though. Eg. You are limited to a one line chat interface, (I prefer ICQs message window) and the advanced functions of the chat protocols aren't available.

two of my must haves are "snagit" - a screen capture that allows you to save in many formats
and "clipomatic" which is a multiple entry clipboard, invaluable for posting here

Mine has got to be the Google tool bar, I use it all the time.

Also T-Clock is good.
