yeah.. STB came out of no where, with huge impact on voodoo dominance..
Who would've thought..

I've only had 2 VC so far, (umm... did Apple2 have a VC?) both with only 1MB memory.. so i won't talk bout that..

And I'm getting a integrated video chip next time.. so.. nothing much to say bout that either.. :p

No video card will ever make me go gaga like when I played Unreal with my new 12mb STB Blackmagic Voodoo2! I have a Voodoo5 5500 now and even though it's much better in every way than the Voodoo2, it still did not send me into a state of shock.

Well, one of my most favorite video cards of all time was the ATI VGAWONDER 1024. It was a huge improvment from my previous card (EGAWONDER 256k). Imagine the shock going from 640x350x16 color (interlaced) to 1024 x 768 256 colors at 60Hz noninterlaced. The first time I saw a 1024x768x256 color GIF I was amazed. That card lasted my from 1990-1996. And I never had a problem with it in all that time. Cards just don't last like that anymore. The next card I really enjoyed was the ATI 3D Expression. It was one of the first 3D cards, ATI enchnced Mechwarrior was gorgeous (by the standards of the day) and MY ATI TV tuner card let me watch crisp clear TV on my desktop while I was working, while the ability to do video capture was just too cool. Many people here have listed whatever they currently have or what is fastest right now, but I think in the long term it is that cards that provide for the biggest changes that should be most remembered (Voodoo 1 probalbly deserves to be on that list, but I never had one so I really don't have strong memmories of them. I just hope that future advancements prove as memorable.
