The Eminem thread got me thinking about the insight into the character of some of our forum members that could be derived from their favorite song lyrics. I'm just curious what you all think are some meaningful, enjoyable, or relatable lyrics?

I have a great deal that I enjoy, among them is Modest Mouse's The Moon and Antarctica. Feel free to post some of yours.

Anything by Trembling Blue Stars. Mostly "Ripples" that is my favorite song of all time.


Also "All Else Failed" by Kind Of Like Spitting.

To each his own. I didn't like Dave that much when I first heard his music. DMB is one of those bands that you have to be exposed to for a while to get used to...then you slowly start to understand why things were written the way they were.

i was exposed to it. ive been to a concert and my ex GF only listned to dave. i like some of the songs. but i think OVER expouser killed my liking for most of their stuff

Agreed. There are the 'followers' too. I listen to a lot of stuff in that Genre too..

Train - Get Away is another great song. The lyrics aren't all that great, but I do like the one line, "All this holding on, can't be wrong"
It's one of those really good sets of lyrics that make you wonder why you haven't heard anyone else sing it before.

Now for another one.....

I refuse to listen to Oasis because they are a bunch of f*cking wankers!! BTW.. Did you know that their lyrics don't mean dick? One of the first times I got turned off by Oasis was when the lead singer (forget his name and I don't care to know it) admitted to making up words that just went along with the music and they don't mean anything. I don't respect that any more than people like Brittany Spears that have everything written for them. The lyrics should at least mean something to the person who wrote them even though we don't know what the hell it means.

Besides all this, I think they are just the biggest rip off of the Beatles.
