For me I would have to say di.fm and sky.fm. A lot of good stuff often playing on both, rarely has any issues and not too many commercial breaks. They have mobile apps too.

I have seen soundcloud and a couple of others. What are your favorites and why?

Spotify is my favorite. I pay for the premium though, so I don't have to worry about the ads and can use mobile.

They have a ton of music and it is a decent enough dedicated app. It also gives me the ability to control playlists from my phone that are playing on me PC.

Aww, that really sucks. I didn't know that. =(

I know there is a Google chrome add on that allows you to use Pandora from a proxy, wouldn't surprise me if Spotify had one as well.

Pandora.com is what I mostly listen to. I like my Greasemonkey script that can download the songs.

soma.fm - quirky music channels. I especially like the lounge channel

digitallyimported - ambient and space.

jazzradio.com - when I want to hear a specific style of jazz, and don't feel like picking through my collection

libre.fm - for music I can later download

sky.fm - space and ambient

Checkout Clementine music player. It comes loaded with a bunch of internet stations, so you might find something new that way.

Does sky.fm show you what's being played? I haven't created an account yet.

Well that was odd, the damn ad was playing over the music! Annoying!

5 minute commercials plus that time using up song time = nice!!

The commercials are irritating, but aren't 5 minutes long. As far as song time goes, I don't care with ambient/space. I like that as structured white noise, and with few exceptions, I'm not interested in particular tunes/artists.

Radio stations? Couldn't say. It depends on what I want to hear. I have a big music collection also, and listen to that more than anything.

I've got an account with Deezer through my Internet provider. It's not great, but not awful.
soma.fm is nice, my favorite channel is the beat blender.

do i have to download something to listen to soma

No. Just copy the playlist to a decent music player, or play it through a browser plugin. Dunno if they use Flash or not. I never play stuff through the browser.
