so what do u guys like and run? debian? redhat? mandrake? slack? suse?
i tried and used them all (debian was my favorite), but not anymore. two words for you: GENTOO LINUX. it has to be, beyond a doubt, the absolute coolest (cool in the geek sense) distribution ever.
do u like using the apt features of debian but want to optimize your software? gentoo lets you.
using slack or deb for their minimal install? gentoo does that too.
using mandrake or redhat as a desktop for their features? gentoos got the latest and greatest all the time. kde3 w/ xfree 4.2 anyone? not to mention emerge scripts for the latest nvidia drivers?
using one of those *old* distros for the journaling support w/ reiser or ext3? gentoo has them plus it has XFS support.
tired of downloading 650mb isos every latest release? the gentoo latest release is 16mb.
like the ease of use and install of mandrake or suse? stick with them, theres tradeoffs. the versatility of gento comes at the expense of newbie usability. but im not gonna complain.
this sounds like an ad for gentoo, but its realy that great. versatility, featureful, and fairly mature. go get it now.
