Your favorite brand of potato chips?

Zeze

Lifer
I've been craving potato chips badly lately.

Lays original is way too salty and makes my tongue hurt.

Lays SC&O is good for what it is, but the seasoning is way too strong and masks the potato taste I crave.

I don't care for much of flavored ones, too strong. I do love a good salt & vinegar time to time.

I used to LOVE Cape Cod, but the kettle cooked chips are finally getting tired on me. It's too hard & crunchy.

Same goes for Kettle brand kettle chips.

I actually like Utz original. They seem to be regional. They're my current favorite for the moment. Nice and potatoey.

What do you recommend?

---- oops, this belongs in OT. could a mod help? thanks as always.

Why does this belong in P&N? Anyways, Utz original are my favorites. The Salt & Vinegar are good too. Not a big fan of regular Lays, but Ripples are good.

Lay's Maui Onion

You're just like me! The ridges/ripples bring out that extra potato taste (did you mean Ruffles?)

Yes, Ruffles is what I meant. I Haven't had them in a while. I generally prefer my fried salted potates to be hot (i.e. French Fries). I don't eat potato chips that often.

This thread sounds extremely racist. How has it gone this long without being locked?

BTW, I love the Kettle cooked, just not Lay's.

Cape Cod, baby! I also like the original super-thick Maui chips - I don't know if they're still made that way, but I remember eating those on the beach in Hawaii as a teenager and they were insanely delicious when warmed up by the sun.

Utz English malt vinegar are good. I like any kind of heavy style chip. Martins handcooked are pretty good, and have a distinctive taste. I don't buy Frito-Lay products.

Good lord do I love potato chips. When I was a kid they used have these thick cut ruffled chips called O'Ryan's, which came in sour cream & onion, and they were my absolute favourites. The Ruffles brand of the same flavour are ok, but nowhere near as good O'Ryan's were. Wish they still existed. 🙁

Right now I like the Kettle Chips' sweet onion or the krinkled salt & pepper flavour.

I used to love Humpty Dumpty's ketchup and dill pickle flavors, but then Old Dutch had to come along and ruin the good times.

Wachusett Potato Chips. Just salt, no other flavors, no ridges, I like them a little more than Utz regular. Those are it, Wachusett #1, Utz #2, won't eat anything else.

I like original pringles, cape cod salt&vinegar chips, ranch doritos, and lays? masterpiece bbq chips. Really hard to choose between these :|

Partial to sweet potato chips. Right now I have a bag of Herr's Kettle cooked dark chips, made with Russets. Very good.

I do not consider Pringles to be chips. :hmm:

KT

Pringles are reconstituted potatoes = i.e. mashed and re-shaped to mimic the thinly cut chips.

[edit] They're not even whole potatoes.

Pringles have only about 42% potato content, the remainder being wheat starch and flours (potato, corn, and rice) mixed with vegetable oils and an emulsifier
