That sounds like a projection to me.
I think many of us can see the faults of others more clearly than we can see our own, especially if we possess those faults ourselves. "It takes one to know one," as we used to say as kids. So even if it is "projection," I would suggest that such does not make it necessarily inaccurate, and perhaps the opposite.

There is no compromise with this disgusting GOP filth. They think they're "Americans," but they're hardly human beings. They're space-trash alien-invader filth.

How could Trump POSSIBLY be a good role model for children?! All the names you could call him -- like "disgusting pig" or "traitorous sociopathic scum" fall short of adequate description.
Maybe someday they'll become real progressives like you and learn tolerance.

I don't think very many posters are here to get along, unfortunately. Here to be smarter than the next, here to dehumanize opponents, here to take out frustrations brought on by an unfair and uncaring world, sure. Not gonna find any Kumbaya in these digs.

BTW, I'm guilty of some of the sins I listed...
Yes I am beginning to see that what you're saying is true. You can say anything about anyone you want in this sub without any repercussions. If you comp[lain about it the people here just call you a "snowflake" or some other word they have deemed derogatory.

To be fair, there have been terrible posters here who have either been banned or been given a long vacation. And humans can't really be blamed for engaging in groupthink, it's how we're wired, generally. Surely it has been selected for over the eons for its ability to promote cohesiveness within clans.

I split hairs when it suits me, in this case because concise communication in this medium is essential. I'm glad that you specify not wanting deaths, though, since some of your previous posts (I lurk) have seemed decidedly less temperate. But "gone" seems like some kind of fantasy land, How can "they" (who are actually we) be gone and not dead? All moved to Mother Russia, perhaps?
LOL, ya made me chuckle. Russia would be fine as long as they are first drained of all their money through the judicial system.

"Gone" to me means no longer in influential positions. No longer deciders for the people. They are as corrupt as their lives are long.

I understand what you are saying about concise communication but I liked his post because I want the people to rise up and stop Trump and his Administration. I think my past posts have been very specific about that. If as you say, you lurked, you know that I am not someone who condones violence. But my mouth... Or more aptly put my right ring finger Swype types up a storm about my anger and frustration often with cruel or crude language. That is on purpose.

Just had a long conversation with my husband about my shock (he's a "realist" so he's not shocked) to discover how many truly stupid people there are in the country. Through this forum specifically I have been schooled in that reality and further convinced that today, supporting Trump or anyone in his Administration requires near institutionalization worthy levels of stupidity. It's heartbreaking! These people know what their stupidity breeds, their leaders know what it breeds and they are all embracing it fully erect. No, it's not because they're happy to see me though it absolutely could be a gun in their pockets... right beside their pride in... wait for it... in stupidity, NOT country.

I see this as well. It is human nature for groups to stay with those who think and behave the same way. Safety in numbers I suppose. If the pack thinks it is ok to behave a certain way then it must be fine.

Group think is definitely a thing and people of all stripes can suffer from it. I would say that the right takes it to a whole new level. You can see the difference between the "leftys" here and righties who do post here who almost all post regurgitated talking points and link to sites who also regurgitate Republican talking points. For example if you look at the thread about trump and the Van Gogh painting, you will see how everyone is on board initially with their outage but then several posters actually point out some facts and context and peoples opinions begin to change and the "rage" subsides. I've never seen that from the righties, at least not on this board (then again, confirmation bias can be a bitch).

This is not true. I am not sinking nor do I need a life line. Does putting down someone like me help lift you up?

Sinking? Maybe not, running away from people challenging your opinion? Yeah. Maybe you should take that lifeline;)

Consider that this forum may not be attracting many quality "righties." I can look at the list of topics in P&N and seriously wonder if this forum is more to the left of the Democratic Underground or not. I don't mean that as a smear, just that conservatives that wander in here are pretty much just target practice. The few who persist seem uniquely stubborn, if not uniformly bright, you gotta give them some props for that.

No. Give as much credit to the mentally defective smashing their heads on a wall. And you are an enabler.

\and the fun part - there are no decent people that can offer an idea of the right that holds true to the world today....

That's just from skimming this thread.

Honestly, I just drop by every now and then to point and laugh at the freaks.

Nah. I mean, I get that you're dismissive and that's expected, but if I'm enabling anything at all besides a cure for insomnia, it's civil discourse. Not something to be had with the enemy here, understandably.

I'm off to bed, good people. Thanks for making me think.

Why don't we all just cool off for the night and call it good. There's no need to keep baiting each other with demeaning posts.
That's certainly one thing we can all agree on right?

Their persistence isn't props worthy. At minimum they are masochists. They don't come to this forum to broaden horizons, they come here to vomit their stupidity and ugliness. Conservatism is bullshit to its core. And not a single soul can live up to it because it's nothing but an excuse to keep hate alive AND thriving. They are a target because they should be targets. They are not a race of people they are an ideology that is all about regression, division, suppression and segregation. That is all conservatism is and until it evolves that is all it will ever be.
