Right. That's the ideal.

Doesn't make it reality.

Laws are for the poor in this country. When they affect the rich and powerful then I'd be willing to consider its veracity.

Uh, ok. I think youre confused. Laws are for the rich and poor alike. Ever read about the poor being convicted of tax fraud (Leona Helmsley, Martha Stewart, Al Capone) or securities fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, money laundering (Bernie Madoff)??? I havent.

You have to remember that what happened and what can be proven are often two different things. Often, if not always, the poor dont have the ability to hire a defense team that know the law well enough to needle their way through it like the rich do. It has nothing to do with the law per se, but what can be proven. Thats why so many rich people get off, or get sentences reduced. They can hire attorneys who know the law. Public representation often doesnt.

Understood. And not my point.
Oh I get your point and I don't have a problem with working on the illegal immigration issue but NOT with the current Administration or the current climate. There's too much hate involved. I'd like to think you can see my point.

I don't see hate. I see determination to slow down illegal immigration. I would be willing to bet if every American were asked if illegal immigration needs to be slowed down, most would say yes. I think the same is true with Congress. The sticking point is how. And that's where the bickering begins.

Most PD offices don't have the manpower or the money to mount significant defense in all but a relative few cases. They mostly try to get their clients the best deal they can from the system that feeds the prison industrial complex. Over 90% of criminal indictments result in plea deals, iirc.

Why do we need to slow down illegal immigration in this country when the population of illegals dropped & stabilized 10 years ago?

Dems are willing to fund better border security, anyway, even if it's not actually justified by reality. That obviously doesn't include miles & miles of Wall! out in the middle of nowhere.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to the publication and others who attended the meeting. He later suggested that the U.S. should bring in more immigrants from countries like Norway.

“They are not our friend, believe me,” he said. “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

"Sadly, the overwhelming amount of violent crime in our major cities is committed by blacks and hispanics-a tough subject-must be discussed."

“go back to their huts” in Africa

“Dishonest media is trying their absolute best to depict a star in a tweet as the Star of David rather than a Sheriff’s Star, or plain star!” the then-Republican candidate tweeted on the Fourth of July 2016. But the graphic Trump tweeted had previously appeared on an “anti-Semitic, white supremacist message board,”

I don't disagree. My point remains...the law applies equally to everyone. Unless you think interpretation would be different depending on net worth?

You said you don't see hate, it's rhetoric coming straight from the top. Feel free to open your eyes.
Although I disagree with his delivery, I support his intent. To protect Americans, and those who come here legally. At least that's how I interpreted it as cringeworthy as his words are.

I simply point out that the past & the present are two different things. 2/3 of all 11M undocumented immigrants have been here more than 10 years. Inflow & outflow are basically balanced wrt the remaining 3.7M people so we must be doing something right. The so-called 'Mexican invasion" was over a long time ago. Now we just need to get over ourselves & find constructive ways to deal with the new reality. Deporting 11M people obviously isn't it.

So you support a campaign and presidency of hate, ignorance, stereotypes, racism, xenophobia, lies, and another massive money grab for the tippity top....to protect white America. Like it or not, that's what you're saying, because that's what's happening.

Nope it's not. I've offered my opinion on how and that isn't it.

Nope. Ive said nothing of the sort. The fact you even imply that shows me you either can't read or have terrible comprehension skills.

That's what's happening, right now. You first claim you don't see hate, someone points out obvious hate. Instead of acknowledging it for what it is, you play the intent card. One of those times we're not supposed to take Trump literally.

Well, that's on you. See it for what it is, or accept your place in the food chain. You can continue to try and rationalize, but in the end....that's what's happening, right now, in America.
