Is anyone else getting this message frequently?

I have a fast PC & Cable connection...2 GB RAM, 7800GT, X2-4400+ CPU, etc...No reason whatsoever for this to be happening...

Never had this problem until 2 days ago when I upgraded to the X2-4400+ CPU...I've done the REGEDIT update...latest AMD drivers...latest Nvidia drivers...Forceware & NForce4...

The problem doesn't start right away...I can play for about 2 hours & then my connection starts losing speed...Fast...It slows down then just stops in game...& I get kicked from the server because I've lost my connection...

So, I don't know if it's because of the new Patch or my CPU upgrade & the whole XP problem w/ X2 CPU's...But I upgraded both at the same time...

Any help / suggestions / feedback would be awesome!

Which game? Also, does it only happen in the game, or do you sometimes have difficulty viewing web sites? What do you normally do to fix it? Reboot the computer? Do you have a router or is the cable modem plugged directly into your computer?

What are you "playing"? If it is BF2, have you recently patched it? There were apparently lots of people having trouble with the newest patch. Not sure if it was anyway related to X2 or just EA's below sub-par quality control. Anyway, more info would be helpful, but I have never seen a problem like this show up because of a CPU change.

Wow, I didn't realize I forgot to mention that it's BF2...I haven't either...I just know of the problems XP had w/ the X2 CPU's, but I corrected that w/ the patches I installed & the REGEDIT hot fix...

To fix this problem, I have to reboot the computer...

It's funny the other person should ask if I have any problems viewing websites...At the same time this problem started, my mouse started acting real funny while surfing...It would act like it was very low on batteries, but it's not...The batteries are brand new...It's a MS Intellimouse Explorer 2.0...It's been perfect up until the past 2 days...

I have the cable modem connected to a router, which has been flawless...Yes, I recently patched BF2 w/ the patch that just came out...

I had a problem with BF2 dropping connections a long time ago, opening port 16567 helped a little bit (it might have been placebo:eek:) No problems here with the patch, but I have heard lots of bad things. Maybe those people are running dual cores as well? Is the regedit trick sort of a permanent way to set affinity? I don't have a dual-core so I can't be much help, but you might try the port thing just see if it helps. Maybe check the in-game options for network.

This is actually turning into a real problem...It's getting worse...Well, I've been signed onto BF2 now for about 30 minutes...Just got disconnected from 3 servers...Same exact problem...Your Connection to the Server Has Been Lost...

My average ping on a server is 45...So, I don't know what the heck the problem is...Never experienced this before...Sure, I've had problems w/ BF2, but nothing like this...As of right now, I can't even play a full round now...

Yeah dudes, this is absolute crap.

Ever since I installed the 1.2 patch, everytime I double-click a server it tells me "Your Connection to the Server has been lost"

WTF?

Sometimes I'll get a sever to load. I'll get all the way into the game, I'll pick my spawn and my gear and then as soon as I try and get into the fight, I get booted to the menu saying "Your connection to the server has been lost"

Grrr...

Welcome to the glory that is EA software, where the bugs crawl like wine, and the pre-release testing is next to non-existant...

Here's a *fix* from someone on another forum who has an X-2 cpu like you, OP:

"Heyyyy alll i have fixed the disconnection problem for me anyways. It is an incompatibility problem with BF2 and X2 CPU. If you have an X2 what you need to do is start the game minimize it using ctrl + esc then open task manager and find BF2 in Processes. Once you have done this right click it and select set affinity then un-check CPU 1 so the game will only run from one core of your CPU. BF2 cannot run from CPU0 and CPU1 or you get the constant disconnects. I really hope this will help other people because it fixed it for me"

Thanks for the find...I'll try it tonight & let you guys know if it works...(Fingers Crossed)

Update: I'd like to add one more thing & it may be directly related to the X2 Fix...My average ping is typically between 25 - 50...Last night it was between 100 - 200 during the last 2 rounds I was trying to play...

The weird thing about this whole problem is it's been progressive...It started out to where I could play for 2 - 3 hours before experiencing the connection problems...Then it went down to an hour...Now it's at about 10 minutes...I've tried about 15 different servers on my Favorites list & had the same results...

One more bizarre piece of info...Someone on the BF2 Forums suggested removing my old Quick Launch Shortcut & replacing it with a new one after the latest patch...After I did that, the damn game started loading into an Official EA WC Game Server, which I've never seen before...So, after I click to Login to my Account, instead of it bringing me to the Main Options Menu where it always has before, it throws me into an EA Server & it chooses a map for me...So, I'm immediately loading on a map that I haven't even chosen...Never had this happen before...EA also adds this Server to my Favorites list, even though I didn't choose it...How the hell is that related to my X2 CPU???

Maybe there's a setting I need to uncheck somewhere...I'd sure as hell like to know which one...Because this is total BS...

It sounds like that shortcut is for the "Play Now" "feature:roll:". Check the shorcut to see where it points to, or if the the +playNow 1 command modifier is present. If it is, simply delete it.

I don't recall there being 2 Shortcut icons, but I'll check later today...I've had to reinstall BF2 several times because of moving around HD's & reinstalling XP, but the shortcut I added to the Quick Launch list always worked the 1st time...I'll check it out tho...

Thx!

Update:

Deselecting CPU1 under the Affinity settings in Task Manager appears to have fixed the problem...3 of the 4 rounds I played last night were fine (avg. ping of 40)...Played for about 45 minutes...One of the rounds sky rocketed up to 185 ping, but strangely enough, the round was actually playable...

Swapped out the Shortcut icon & that fixed that problem...
