Your computers purpose ?

I was just wondering what everyone uses there computer for, mine is used for just about everything..

Edit: I meant to say the "Main purpose of your computer"

I do believe you missed out one very important catagory! What ever happened to workage?

The most time consuming thing i do on the net would have to be chatting (msn/icq), followed by web surfing, gaming and finally univeristy work. So i suppose, "Chatting" is the main use - still doesn't stop me from wanting a Dual Opteron system for some reason

Well, my desktop, unfortunately, has been relegated to making finite element runs. Its a shame when you can't use your computer for five days because its tied up completely by a run. EVERY now and then, I'll sit down and encode the CDs I've bought since I last did a batch (having an MP3 stereo in my car is nice--but the task of encoding all of your CDs and filling out the ID tags isn't exactly fun).

My newly acquired laptop is basically used for everything--web, office apps, looking up journals/books in the library, even post-processing the FE runs.

I do no gaming (my GC does that if I want to--and I seldom have time to).

I would of including those but I was trying to above everyone choosing all of the above, and Im not sure how to make a multiple answer poll..

I don't think "web browsing" should be a choice. Obviously anyone who got to this post browses the web at least some... If you have a computer you browse the web almost for sure.

So I had to vote for "all of the above/more than 1"

Gaming is the main purpose of my PC tho
