Young ecs g31t-m board drops ethernet connection often

I bought an inexpensive ecs g31t-m board under a year ago to make my system while I waited for a rma mobo. It has since found it's way into a 'spare parts' computer I built for my mother to replace her p4 dell crap-box with an energy efficient core2 setup. Nice cheap build,- got to reuse parts that would've gone to waste laying around.
Problem is, the integrated nic on the ecs g31t-m drops connections frequently with any router (I've tried 4 I possess). When started up or resumed, the network icon on the taskbar just sits there with a red x. I find it kind of absurd I had to advise my mother to buy a roswell pci-e nic simply because the motherboard sucked. Is there anything that can be done? Although it was inexpensive, things are out of proportion when a simple ethernet nic cost the equivalent of 1/4 the cost of the whole system.

If you've tried multiple drivers (including the latest ones and Windows Updates) and the NIC still doesn't work properly, obviously the fault lies on hardware. I'm afraid there isn't much you can do about it other than to find an alternative. You can pick up a Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) card for a few dollars if her system usage is mostly Internet. Of course for back-ups or media streaming Gigabit is preferred.

Got the same problem with the same board. I wasn't sure if it was the board or the router causing it. Going to have to get a pci nic.

The new pci-e nic fixed the problems. Like the fact it works now, but still find it sad the integrated nic doesn't work.

At least for me, it works fine but I have to unplug and plug the lan cable from the router a couple times before it is recognized. I don't know if this fits the definition of "working," but it works once its recognized.
