My brother in law, Rich, a cop in Pittsburgh, was responding to a burglary call when he was spotted by a midget who had just stolen a Lexus. The midget, thinking the officer with lights ablaze was after him, decided to whip the Lexus around and head TOWARDS Rich! I guess he thought he'd be slick and whiz past Rich not leaving Rich enough time to turn around and continue pursuit... assuming he was chasing this guy in the first place! The midget ended up crashing head on into Rich. Rich got knocked out and they ended up using the jaws of life to get him out of the cop car. He's Ok. He's in the hospital now, but he's awake and talking. A few scratches from broken glass and metal.
First thing: The midget is being charged with theft of the car and license plate and causing an accident involving injury. Umm.... He whipped the car around BECAUSE he knew a cop was behind him. He was going to try to EVADE the officer! Shouldn't there be more charges against the guy?
Second: Being a midget, doesn't it make it hard for him to steal cars? I mean, I'm sure he's just as capable of breaking and entering into one as anyone else, but isn't it hard for him to reach the pedals? Isn't there a better crime out there for a vertically challenged criminal than stealing high-end rice burners in downtown Pittsburgh?
