Hi folks, recently I found every tech's favorite bit of freeware, Gator, had managed to sneak it's way onto my own PC. I've removed it many a time from many an ailing computer, along with "downloed accelerator", GAIN, scheduler and all the other feces it smeared all over customers pc's. But as I was spraying some air freshner into my own case to get rid of Gator's stink, I felt it's evil still lurking nearby, and I get the sneaky suspicion it's still here somewhere.
I dig through my files and I don't see it.
I look through my programs and don't notice any strangers...
But I can feel it, I'm sure of it, and I feel it in my internet.
Now when I go to websites I've visited enough to call old friends, there are poop-up ads where there once were none. And each of these adds shows the lil gator icon along with its name down in my taskbar.
Is there some piece of gator hiding in my system, farting out it's little adds as i visit websites?
Or has gator undergone some rampant advertising?
Anyone know how to vanquish gator completely?
This is not General Hardware related.
