Those needs to be disposed of properly... i think old LCD's had mercury in them because of the CCFL, so staples recycling centers might not even take them unless the guy is stupid or thinks its a newer LED one.

Walk into Best Buy. Set it in their recycling shelf at the front of store which in my experience is unmanned and overflowing, walk out. They do whatever needs to be done. Easy peasy.
