Spoiler Alert: It will be terrible.

This is so far behind the "Open World Survival Craft MMO" trend however that by the time its out what's old might be new again.

This would be amazing as a singleplayer game. I'm less interested in MMO.

I mean, its literally one game so you get sick pretty easily.
And I dont think anyone has made a LOTR game for a little while. But yeah, for a brief period there were tons of them.

Yeah, so many Dune games lately.
What I really meant is that none of em were good (IMO) and really, do we need to bring Dune back? Horrible movies, horrible series, and honestly, I read the books in the very early 80s and really thought they were boring AF. :)

Dune 2 at the time was awesome and genre defining, and if you don't like the franchise at all then it just isn't relevant for you anyway. Dune as a franchise was dead for a very long time, and I'm happy that we're seeing a few things released (new game/s, movies etc).

Obviously your definition of good sci fi is the Teletubies.

You are so sick of the one Dune related thing made since the early 90s? Wtf are you talking about.
Emperor: Battle for Dune was 2001, Dune: Spice Wars was just last year. There's also the Villeneuve Dune films (Part 2 later this year), various books, comics & TV shows released since 2000.

I'm surprised the Dune universe was always kind of niche and never became as popular as Star Wars. A lot of the things in Star Wars are taken straight from Dune.

-SW might have taken the wind out of dune. Can only imagine how many people think Dune is a ripoff of SW at this point.

I love the Dune series, first real PC game was Dune2 which essentially spawned the entire RTS genre and Westwood Studios.

That said, I also don't expect this game to do well, although I'll probably still try it. If it was just multiplayer and focused more on resource / automation like Factorio / Satisfactory I think it would fill an interesting niche.

As for new survival crafting games, I'm more looking forward to https://www.playnightingale.com/
