Now That you are here.... :D

I was all set to go and order myself an IWILL kk266 in a few days when I read AnandTech's Socket A review from a couple days ago. I read about the ECS K7S5A and thought.. wow if that works good then I can use my SDRAM I have now and then upgrade later to DDR ram.

If I do not plan on overclocking would it be better to go and grab the ECS K7S5A?

Here's what I was planning on getting either:

IWILL KK266+
384 Crucial pc133
1.2 GHz Thunderbird

----or now-----

ECS K7S5A
no ram currently
1.4 GHz Thunderbird

Is this motherboard stable and capable enough for buying yet or should I wait until there are more options for the sis 7S5A Mobos?

Thanks.

I know this isn't exactly going to answer your question but I have a KK266 with a tbird 1.2Ghz running over 1.4 without a hitch. It has a Thermalright SK-6 with a quiet fan to boot. I'm getting the other board pretty soon and should be able to compare them but I would say go with the Iwill board if you want to oc it since you already have the ram.

Get the K7S5A. You can still use the PC133 RAM if you already have it or you can get the exact same amount of DDR RAM from Crucial for the same price; a no brainer. The board is stable. ECS has a long standing reputation for building stable boards for the OEM market. They are also in the top 3 of manufacturers of MB's as far as volume goes. Or you can wait. Other builders will be coming out with their versions of the same chipset. But don't expect the price to come down. If anything it will probably go up, although other manufacturers may offer more features such as better overclocking abilities. But, you mentioned you were not interested or concerned about that.
Many here have built a system lately with this board and found it easy to set up and very stable. I am included in that bunch.
