I surmised this was coming when GN did the video about how they would be reviewing LMG as a tech company moving forward. The backpack trust me bro warranty was the first shot fired.

The okay Boomer response is partially warranted here too. The number of you crusty old fuckers that whinge about written reviews over videos is <insert too damn high meme here>.

Ironically Gamers Nexus worst content is their gaming stuff. Sound scientific methodology, but also of very little utility. They don't play the games, they test them. Big difference.

In response to the question of - how am I supposed to listen to a podcast AND do something else? I listen while I cook, clean, fold laundry; any task that can be done on autopilot.

Linus hired his old boss to run his company so he could focus on content creation. If that results in a culture change it'll take time.

Many think this whole thing blew up because of an employee firing shots at GN and HUB by name during that new lab tour. That seems logical. HUB is being more diplomatic in their approach to the drama. GN is returning fire, and using the exposure in a smart and calculated manner.

Wow. I have a lot of hobby interests & I dabbled in doing Youtube videos for fun in the past, but the upkeep to feed the social media beast is downright exhausting. I can't imagine being asked to make two TikTok videos a day, five days a week, forever. It's not that hard if you're working at McDonald's in a contained environment where every order is simply a variation on a pre-existing theme, but to have to come up with fresh, new creative content multiple times a DAY is waaaaaay too demanding!

The GN call-out wasn't designed to be malicious, but rather to be a call-to-action for a growing problem that LTT could nip in the bud. All it would take is:

1. A straight-up, no-frills public apology
2. Fix their content for accuracy & transparency/ethics

I really like a lot of their content. Their "2 Gaming Rigs, 1 Tower - Virtualized Gaming Build Log" is what originally introduced me to unRAID's virtualization technology with GPU pass-through, which was SUPER cool at the time (back in 2015). Then they did "7 gamers, 1 CPU", then optimized it, then did "Six 8K workstations, 1 CPU" a few years later.

I don't even care. LTT has issues all of the review spaces for tech do. And while I like their testing, I can't stand watching Gamers Nexus just because of the dude's droning voice (or whatever is the reason his voice is somehow compressed and feels barely audible but also is just grating to listen to for more than a few minutes - and therefore perfectly suited for long winded videos...) that makes it so any content they produce that is a video instead of an article a fail.

Frankly though, the thread about this in the CPU forum reminded me why I got out of the PC enthusiast space, I don't enjoy any of it. The mountain out of molehill antics of everyone, constant hyperbole that somehow exceeds that of modern sports takes, the not intended to be but simply hilariously silly nonsense behavior of the fans (dude in that thread "people accusing GN better check themselves" talking tough), and the social media crap that well social media has added to already socially inept weirdos.

Its more that, LMG is now a big company and are linked to the industry, Asus's ex-marketing director works there and after LTT softpedaled Asus's RMA issues, Asus became their title sponsor. LTT's poor responses to the issues raised by GN showed how crappy they were with their obfuscation/gaslighting. And they didn't just lose(auctioned) Billet Labs cooler, they also delayed and ignored Billet Labs request to return their 3090ti.
