I was thinking of taking an old Logitech web cam and setting it up somewhere around my cube so I can see when my boss's boss walks down our aisle talking to people. That way if I am having a conversation, especially if the conversation is not about work, I can be alerted seconds before instead of one second before.

He has walked in on many conversations of mine...and he will ask what we were talking about D:

Just buy a bicycle rear-view mirror and clip it to your monitor. My co-worker did that and it worked out for him, nobody said anything about it.

Here is one at Thinkgeek:

Can we get an idea of what kind of crazy conversations he has walked in on?

Judging by your avatar, you werent talking about how you banged two 10s at the same time in your penthouse suite at the Bellagio the weekend before.

The rear view mirror would be good to have for my other boss. We have this long aisle, and at the end of the aisle, there is a wall where a lot of the managers/directors sit.

What....you wanna put one in the girls bathroom?

Sure why not.

You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover... :awe:

I have one of those infrared door sensors that flashes an LED attached to my monitor whenever someone walks down the hall to my office (only one down that hall).

just set up a few bear traps outside your cube.

better yet, dig a pit 5 paces from your cube and line it with downward-facing punji sticks. smear animal feces on the punji sticks to increase infection among the wounded.

win!

This is why every place I have worked locked down PC's so you couldn't install hardware or software.

One place I worked we took a nerf football and carved out the center and made a pin hole just enough to allow the webcam see out of and then just set the nerf football on top of a cabinet like it was just left up there then ran the wire down the backside of the cabinet and to a computer.

We used to just screw with people with it though.

Like set it somewhere where someone wouldn't know they were being watching and then say things like "stop scratching your ass!" and stuff like that.

I realize this is a novel concept by why don't you simply do your job?

Since a lot of places don't actually have 8 hours for work for a person to do in a given day?
That and studies done show that breaks help productivity. :p
