you think Schilling will be trade bait?

The team has done fine without him. They need more bullpen strength if anything. I suppose you could move Bronson Arroyo or Wade Millar to the bullpen.

They won't be trading Schilling. The same could have been said for when Wells came back.

Who them move to the bullpen will be a good question. I'd say its either Arroyo or Wakefield.

If they did trade him, I think Schilling would take it as a personal insult.

and trading Nomar wasn't?

Not really, Nomar wasn't staying at the end of the year, he knew it, the Red Sox knew it.

Schilling expects to end his career a Red Sox now.

Edit: What was a personal insult to Nomar was trying to get A-Rod behind his back.

Pedro "expected" the same.

They offered him a deal, he took a better one.

No, Pedro said he did. That was in effort to leverage more money out of the Sox. If Pedro expected to end a Red Sox he wouldn't have immediately taken every offer the Red Sox made him to the Mets, to get more money out of them.

I don't blame him for leaving the Red Sox, he got more money from the Mets. But he could have taken the Red Sox final offer which while less than the Mets was beyond a very good offer.

Nah, he'll be in Boston for the long haul. Besides, who would take him and his salary? What would we get in return?

Now what the Sox need to do is to figure out WTF is wrong with Embree and Foulke. Dear lord both of them suck. SUCK. It's embarrassing they suck so bad right now.

Nomar didn't do for the Red Sox what Schilling has.

that's BS, normar did a lot for Boston. look at his numbers!! they decided to fvck him in the end, just like they did to Clemens.

it's too bad Bosox sucked royally while Nomar was there.

Um, you must be on crack.

At this point only Wade Miller would be on the trade block (as a pitcher).

Millar or Olerud could be on the trade block as fielding players.

To me, it's more than just numbers. Schilling was a real leader for the Red Sox. Sure, Nomar had the stats, and was a great player, but I feel he never really instilled confidence in the Sox like Schilling has. Maybe it's just their personalities. Nomar was great, but I don't feel he made everyone around him better. Schilling is great, and I feel like he does make everyone around him better.

Nomar's attitude brought the sox down last year. It's a good thing for them he left. Schilling will never be traded.

what are you smoking? they wont trade him! They will trade jay payton away for some more help in the bullpen. AJ Burnett is a long shot, but kotsay may be good or even mike cameron. Only time will tell

It seemed to me like Nomar was the one dragging the team down with his moods.

I mean, cmon. The Sox get a walk-off-win and you sit there in the dugout instead of congratulating your teammates?

All I know is that as soon as Nomar left, the Sox went on a tear.

I agree somewhat. The Red Sox screwed over Nomar with the attempt at A-Rod (so glad he didn't get hime). And he never got over it. However Nomar did turn down a 4 year - 60 million dollar "We are sorry offer". When he turned down that offer in the beginning of 2004, the Sox knew he wasn't going to stay at the end of the year. And something needed to be done. He never really came back from his injury, and that I'm not playing during the Yankees series didn't help.

It's business people. Theo is a whacko with surprises anyways, so don't be too sure. i doubt Schilling will be traded, but everyone else doubted Nomar would be traded.

It's hard to swallow because he was the face of the organization, but it's true.

When is Schilling expected back? Certainly they aren't in a rush since the staff is doing well. I imagine after all-star break at the earliest.

He has a AAA rehab start tonight I believe.
