You Nissan fanboys are gonna love this...

N8Magic, I sure hope the list isn't in order as I tend to think Town Cars have more interior room myself 😕

well how big a car on the outside isn't always a great indicator of how roomy it is on the side. they've been getting better at making the most out of any space🙂

I30/35 is the same mechanically as the Maxima but the I30/35 has a bit more C&C inside that's bound to take a few inches overall.

Unfortunately it's also a fact now that the new Altima has more interior room than the Maxima (Until of course the 2003/4 redesigned Max comes out)

<< "On the other hand, our list of the roomiest cars reflects the imports' ability to combine voluminous car interiors within efficiently packaged exteriors," he said. >>

No kidding! One of my biggest problems with domestic cars...pathetic use of space. GM is the biggest offender here. They have a car that offers the same interior space as a Hyundai Elantra, yet the car is nearly 2 feet longer than an elantra. Great use of size there!

Yeah I was shocked when I sat in my friend's Maxima SE. I have Lexus GS300 and thought that was a pretty decent sized car but the Maxima had much more rear leg room than my car.

It's ok for me though since I never sit in the back seat.

Aside from the larger VQ35DE engine and upgraded transmission it's physically the same.

<< the I35 >> I30 (its a whole differnet car, much much better) >>

Uh...the I35 = I30 with bigger engine

same body, same frame, same chassis, same interior...well ok the front grill is different and the rims are different for the I35...but essentially is the same car with a bigger engine.

The G35 is a totally different car than the I35/I30.

Also that link didn't work..what was it about?

The interior is slightly different, the engine is a whole lot different and the ride is inicredibly differnt, im not a car person so i cant explain it much better then that but i was looking to buy a i30 last year and decide against it, my dad just bought the i35 and i think its awsome so much more fun to drive and much better handling.

Are you sure your comparing the 2000/2001 I30 to the 2002 I35?? The pre-2000 I30s were totally different, but 2000-2002 are pretty much the same apart from the engine. The ride may be different due to different size and type of tires. Also the 2002 I35s have VDC now.

anyone can conform this? the 2003 Altima has more room than Maxima?
not that I think rootaxs is completely out-of-his-mind, it is just hard to believe...

and I thought Nissan will be dis-continuing the Maxima since the Altima practically replaces it.

and talk about mechanical inbreeding,
I35, G35, Altima SE, Maxima, Pathfinder, QX4, Z350, all use the same engine. koodos to you Nissan.

I can't find the exact interior spec but here's the spec:

Legen: Critera = (Altima) - Maxima
Wheelbase = (110.2) - 108.3
Length = (191.5) - 191.5
Height = (57.9) - 56.7
Width = (70.4) - 70.3
Interior Volume = (103.2) - 102.5
Trunk Volume = (15.6) - 15.1
Total Volume = (118.8) - 117.6

I lost my copy of the comparison measurements but basically the Altima gains more head and legroom both in front and in the back.

The Altima is based on a new platform and has been bumped up one class rating (Take the place of the current generation Maxima). The upcoming redesigned Maxima will then move up one class to directly compete with the (Toyota) Avalon's of this world. The Altima never had a distinct class of competition, now it has.

okay, thanks rootaxs 🙂
Altima it will be,

see, i want the sportiness of the Sentra SE-R 2.5,
but want the roominess of the Altima 2.5,
but in the mean time i go with the Altima I might as well pay more for the 3.5 SE,
but why not then pay more to the Maxima?

excuse my flawed logic, but I like day-dreaming about it 🙂

heck, I have no money for any one of them, so forget it then...
