You never know how fast your computer really is until you do a clean install.

I have almost the same rig as you. I have a 19"lcd monitor, logitech keyboard/mouse,, etc... I wish I had that big display though. Also I have a AMD XP setup. (AMD XP 2600, Corsair 1 gig ddr 3200, 120 gig hd, etc..) And Logitech Z-640's 450 watts THX certified!

It is true. A fresh install is sometimes one of the best upgrades ( and cheapest) one can do.

I haven't done a clean install since buying our laptop September 2002, about 1.5 years ago.

If I did a clean install it'd be like using a 5GHz laptop!!!

I'm closing in on 1 year since my last clean install... still no problems, and it's still fast as hell. I just make sure I know what's running in the background, and perform a disk defrag once or twice a month.

make sure to add stickers to that laptop...adds 1GHz per sticker and reduces battery consumption.

Nah, I save the stickers for our Accord ... easily adds 10HP per sticker!!!

I just made a new XPPro bootable install CD updated with the SP2 files already. What's keeping you?
