AAs are rechargable like your phone batteries. If you get rechargable AA batteries...
i have no idea.

i think the batteries in a cordless phone are usually nickel-cadium's. if you could find rechargeable nickel-cad AA's then it might work. but i wouldn't risk it, there is a risk of a short that could kill your 80+ dollar investment or worse cause a fire.

I've cut open a 9.6vdc battery pack and repowered a couple of 4.8 drill motors w/no problems. Just be extra careful w/the soldering iron and you shouldn't have any problems.

DO NOT SOLDER TO BATTERIES. If you apply heat to a battery, it can destroy the seal causing the electrolyte to leak out over time. It can cause damage to the device the battery is in and it will destroy the capacity of the battery cell.

i guess i'll wait until it completely dies. it's just not holding charge very long now so i probably have a week or 2 until it becomes unbearably annoying.

looking quickly at it, it looks like 3 AA with a couple connectors spanning them and a plug to the handset.

Hi, I Have been making up and repairing rechargeable battery packs for many years. The secret to soldering wires and tabs to them is to use a hot enough soldering iron and do it quickly. Cool the joint as soon as possible. A 20 watt iron wont get it. Jim

I'm guessin' you wouldn't want to be around when I repolarize my 12+vdc drill motor batteries on a car battery. :)

You can also buy rechargeable AAs with solder tabs that are made for building battery packs.
