Okay, i've always loved classical and orchestra music, and just recently I've really been getting into it. But here's my question to those Star Wars fans. Did you ever play Jedi Knight? or X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter? well i have and after I got tired of the game I used them for audio pleasure since they had all those wonderful tracks. So i guess i'll get to the point here.

I'm looking for other similar sounding tracks or orchestra groups. I heard of Philip Glass and I have some tracks from them, but not all of them are as good as those in Star Wars. Also, Final Fantasy has wonderful tracks, what me to prove it? well download this: FF - one winged angel (4.02 MB). This was from FF7 in the end when battling Sephrioth, but in a orchestra version. This is the type I'm looking for, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time :p

I'm not sure if this is the type of music you are looking for but go listen to the soundtrack from Gladiator and Pearl Harbor...both are music from Hanz Zimmer...really wonderful pieces of music.

I remember when the origional first came out I bought the soundtrack (and on 8-track no less, wish I still had it, probably a collectors item by now) if you do enough searching you can probably find the soundtrack somewhere...

Try Beethoven's 9th Symphony (for those who wonder how this ties into soundtracks, various parts of this symphony have been used in many movies. For example, the 2nd movement, molto vivace, was featured in Clockwork Orange; and the presto, chorale (ode to joy), was featured in Evangelion :)) Why not just listen to the entire symphony by the master himself? Search for 'Beethoven 9th Karajan' on your file sharing program (I believe the one circulating over the internet is Karajan's later recording, without Gundula Janowitz)
Btw, did you know that Beethoven's 9th was partly responsible for the specs of compact disks (the first specs were for 60 minutes, but it was changed to 74 minutes so that it could fit the entire 9th on one CD)

Beethoven's 3rd and 5th Symphonies are also great.

I also love final fantasy music, mostly because I associate certain themes to characters/places. For that reason, I really liked FF7-Aeris' Theme and FF7-Cosmo Canyon Theme.

In addition to Beethoven, check out Stravinsky's Rite of Spring (IMHO the greatest piece of music ever created) and Gustav Holst's The Planets...John Williams "borrowed" many musical themes from these pieces for the Star Wars soundtrack. :)

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend Holst's The Planets. Most of John William's stuff is great... The Patriot... Saving Private Ryan is one of my personal favorites. That's one of the best scores I think I've ever heard.
