You know you're shooting WAY too much pool when you skin on your hands start peeling off

JEDI

Lifer
been shooting pool for 5 hrs practicing for my league match tommorow. i noticed that skin has started to peel off. 🙁

It's nature's way of telling me to stop stroking that stick 😱😛

peeling after 5 hours? You should really take better care of your skin and wear a glove or use chalk...I've never had skin problems after playing for long hours (shoulder problems, maybe...)

So where are you playing, what league, and what cue?

maybe you should invest in a shooting glove? I've played/practiced for > 5 hours without a peeling issue. I imagine peeling skin would affect your shot...more friction than you're used to? I have a glove now, but that's cuz my hands sweat.

I saw pool and skin and I thought it was about swimming... I worked at a pool over the summer and trained for my team over the summer. Between the two I spent 14 hours a day at the pool 4 days a week and 5 hours two more days a week. I had patches on my arms that just had skin starting to fall off...

Stevie Ray Vaughan used to play so much and so hard that his fingers would go raw.

He'd then take super glue, put it on his fingers and then continue playing.

<---Jealous that JEDI and Beast have the time to play so much....I only played like 4 hours ALL last week and watched 5....

poo.

damn..lots of Yoda's here tonite 🙂

you should have seen me when i had my own business...took the day off..played from 11am to 1am..league was from 7-11 pm and stayed a couple of hrs afterward w/team. and yeah, i was wearing a glove at that time.

i wasnt wearing one, or using chalk today. damn...lubricant is a good thing :Q😛

i used to play for hours on end and never had the peeling problem. if you keep your hands dry you shouldn't have that problem. there should be a chalk ring somewhere you can use or you can just keep washing your hands or try one of those gloves.

where is your pool league? a friend of mine joined one in the nyc area and he asked me to join his team.

using a glove considerably improves your stroke.

however after some use that slickness goes away? any methods of getting it back besides buying a new one?

A glove doesn't automatically change your stroke, many pros don't use one, it's mostly personal preference. If you're in NYC, maybe check out the ABC? Amsterdam Billiards Club, I have a few friends from there that played there, and the local pro has a jacket from them...

Anybody here have any old cues they'd want to sell off this summer? 🙂 Looking for a nice $300-$500 Meucci, Schon, McDermott (hah)...

ebay..look for 5stardeals...the guy has 10000+ positive ratings. i got a cue from him for $35 shipped 🙂

although at my level, i cant tell the difference between that cue and a cue from the poolhall. it';s just the convience of not having to search for a straight cue 🙂

$35 shipped for a cue and you're in a league?

like i said, i cant tell the different between a house cue and any other cue. i just dont want to waste time searching for a straight stick.

search ebay for "5star deals". thats the dealer. look at his store. he usually has stuff on auction for $5-10 cheaper
