... Your co-workers can't wait for the day to end so that they can get their Friday "drink on," while I can't wait to go grocery shopping, cook a nice dinner and catch up on my DVR before going to bed by 11, at the latest..

How old where you when drinking/being in a club with 4,000 drunk people became the polar opposite of fun?

I drank heavily from senior in high school to college... I think when I was in mid 20s, drinking/drinking environment became less fun.

When I quit drinking more than 2 drinks. I have no tolerance for drunks when I'm not one of them. Now when I go to the bar, it's because I'm trying to keep my tolerance levels up so I don't become a hermit.

I'd say 23, 24.

Tonight I'm making pizza from scratch and the wifey and I are going to watch a movie. I might give the guinea pig a bath.

Same here - I feel weird going out drinking now adays (birthdays, etc.). Like I'm not in on the joke, since I hate getting drunk.

It wasn't age, it was having a kid.

I'd rather go home and see my kid then hang out in bars.

Now that my kid is a teenager often not home on Friday nights, I've no interest in bars anymore. Like you, I go grocery shopping, make a nice meal then drink at home while watching TV ;)

You know, I don't think I'm mature enough for recreational in-home drinking. Like my screwed up mentality was to drink until I was drunk (I.E. until Iwasn't terrified of other people), so a beer at home seems foreign to me.

But I may just do that tonight - beer and steak! wo0t!

right after college...23

Same here. I did a study abroad in China for a year when I was 23-24 at the very tail end of my college career, and I did enjoy getting out and partying... but basically as soon as I graduated I preferred to have quieter evenings. Low-key get togethers with friends or just a nice evening at home is better for me.

Yeah, it's kind of sad that by 11pm I feel so tired that I feel like I've been drugged most of the time.

But having a demanding job that intrudes into my evenings and weekends as well as having a 4 month old child, house, wife and everything else in life to keep up with, the shit is exhausting by the end of the week.

When it started costing $5 for a bottle of beer.

Yeah, no kidding.

I started going to bars when I was in college. You could get drunk with the loose change found between the sofa cushions.

You can pretty much buy a whole bottle of whiskey now for the price of 1 or 2 watered down drinks.

I think this quote is appropriate here:

Actually we've got a nice little Saturday planned. Were going to Home Depot to pick out some wallpaper, then maybe we'll hit Bed Bath and Beyond... I don't know! I don't know if we'll have enough time!

Looks like the lame geezers have managed to shuffle their walkers over to the the computer for this thread! :p

21.

By the time I was 21 I was already very tired of clubbing, drinking, and boinking skanky drunken whores.
Amazed there are still people in their 30's and 40's who like to go out to the bar every night and get hammered. Thats not living. Its just a waste.

EDIT:
Its possible I had better experiences than most other people and perhaps I got my fill of it faster. After I got out of boot camp I was stationed in Orlando. Tons of crazy clubs down there but the trick is to find a place the tourists dont know about.
After Orlando is was Jacksonville, and I also took visits to Daytona and Cocoa during the various summer and spring breaks. MAD wimmins down in Florida!!
On deployment I hit Greece, Isreal, a dozen or more places in Italy, Spain, Malta, and Palma de Malorca. Believe me when I tell you that from my experience, Americans are strictly amateurs. They nothing nothing of professional partying. I saw stuff in Palma that still wakes me up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. Stanley Kubrick shit. Caligula shit. Not for the faint of heart.

After the cruise I went to Chicago for school, relatively tame stuff there. Then it was up to Iceland for 18 months. While not quite as intense as southern Europeans, they do take their shit seriously and will normally go until 9 or 10 the next morning.
Then it was down to southern california and life felt relatively tame at that point. I was already 24 and wiped out. And Californians are weak anyway. They love to fuck off, especially when theres work to be done, but they dont know how to party seriously. They just think they do.

After the Navy it was a civilian job in Oregon, and even though there was a good college nearby I didnt care anymore. They were certainly more layed back as well. Life is mellow up there and I kind of like it.
Now I'm back in Virginia, DC parties are relatively mild and its amusing going to community college and watching all the kiddies experiment & brag, as if they were the first people to discover all this stuff. If they only knew what their great-grandparents did in the 20's. If they only knew what goes on in Greece today.
