You know you're addicted to distributed computing when...

When you track your stats in at least 4 different places, and then create tables showing the variations of output by chipset, cpu, memory, and OS type, then take that data and try to project trends in keyrates in relation to losses due to duplicate blocks.

SETI

When you notice a <10 minute reduction in speed in your WU times and try to modify the OS to fix it, resulting in lost processing time, thereby justifying the upgrade to that quad 1MB cache Xeon system to make up for lost time. Upon recieving this system, you "tweak" the OS yet again to try to max out the potential of the hardware, again resulting in lost processing time, thereby justifying the upgrade to a AlphaServer ES40 with quad 667 MHz Alpha 21264A processor with 8MB DDR L2 cache(or at least that is what is going through your head when you cannot fix your "minor" slow down in WU times).

I am unable to confirm, nor deny, the presence of any distributed computing addicts within Team Anandtech. This is just speculation on my part, and in no way represents the addiction level of myself, or any other members of Team Anandtech.

No more questions please. Thank you.

When your wife comes running into your computer room after hearing lots of cursing and yelling and demands to know what's wrong and you reply (after putting yourself in check) "My PC locked up and I lost 5 minutes of cracking blocks"😉

.. you're building dual-processor PCs at home because you can save money on spare parts for MORE dual processor PCs for your Team's SETI efforts!

I'm currently at 6 dual-processor boxes and counting.. I've almost got enough parts for two more. 🙂

.....when you're afraid to log on to the Forum because your keyrate will drop.

Gotta go...........................................🙂

.... you consider getting a better heatsink/fan combo so you can raise the Vcore of the CPU and get an extra 100 MHz

... when every month you calculate how much of this months paycheck you can spend on equipment for a crackrack! ...

/edit I can't speeeeeeeeeeel 😱 edit/
