when people are huddled in a corner behind a book, before a final, muttering "OMG, I'm soooo scared."

when you walk into a room right after another final ended and half of all the tables are completely covered in erase shavings.

when you ask the prof during a final if you can go to the restroom and he says "you can take as many 'restroom breaks' as you want with out asking me. It's not like anyone out there can help you." :Q

When you watch the morale of the entire class drop to nil after the exam is passed out.

When someone from the back pipes up "Does anyone recognize any of this stuff?" and the class's response is "No."

When you hear disheartened cries of "I'm gonna go get drunk now." as students leave the exam

Al these happened on the same English exam under a very tough professor (she played football).

How about when taking the exam drunk would have given the same or better score.

Or when in the middle of the exam someone stands up and yells "I can't take this sh!t anymore. Im fvcking out of here."

When the class starts out with 100 drops to 70 people after two classes. And now at the end of the quarter 49 out of 70 either have a D or an F. Two weeks ago my teacher made an announcement that there would be no curve and that "if you were currently getting an F you might as well stop showing up and focus on your other classes. He said that getting an F+ was no better than a 20%. At least if you focus on your other classes you will get three good grades and one bad grade. " And now as I look at the grade sheet I notice that 7 people have a c- meaning that on our final they could do bad and also not pass.

Man, you guys are making me really glad I picked music. GE's are still a bitch though. I love how the lecture hall is about 10% full during classes but then overcrowded during tests.

when you tell people what it is and they say, "Oh, I'm SO sorry for you! I haven't had [insert prof's name here] him yet, but I've heard that class he teaches is ridiculous."

one of my teacher was like the worst ever........

someone asked him a question in class........and he would not answer because he needs to keep his schedule. now the whole class dont understand and he was not willing to answer. His point was so he can read the slides really fast and ignore all quesitons because he does not want to answer them.

You know your major is freaking insane. . .

Let me preface this by saying I was a Radio/TV production major.

1. When people routinely spend 30+ hrs a week (out side of the classroom) working on assigned and/or extracuricular<sp?> projects.
2. It's common to see people at the media lab (where all of our post production equipment is) at 3am... any day of the week.
3. People sleep at the media lab because they know it's pointless to go home.
4. Many of your peers have developed ulcers and are taking medication for it.
5. 50% of your weekends are spent planning, shooting, or editing a project.

<< when you have to take 45 credits of chemistry classes for engineers!~ >>

Engineers!! AHAHH!!!

I told someone I was an engineering major and the next thing i heard was. "You're going on academic probation!" from 3 different people. 2 of which wasn't in on the original conversation.

Walk out of a midterm and out of the group of five, two are transfering majors at the end of the quarter, one is told by the rest to do so because she has no idea what she is doing, one is doing good, and this is the only class I have to take in this line of courses. and I'm laughing hysterically.

Pull 2 all nighters in a row and its crunch time before the project is due and half of the group is sitting there giggling.

When you are taking a midterm, and the prof says "OK, that's the halfway point" and the whole class busts out laughing. (I was erasing and starting over on question 1 at the time).

When you get a 95 out of 150 on a midterm, and you set the curve.

When you are convinced the prof is not speaking English, but in fact he is, you just have no clue what he is talking about.

When you come to class drunk, and manage to understand about as much as you did sober.

Not right away. I'm electrical and computer engineering and hell broke loose starting with upper div classes (junior year up).

when you finish a math type assignment.. and realize you have no clue what you just did, but expect a B on it anyway.

I'm an ECE major... god, its a bitch... and i'm only a sophomore...

my grades will prolly be like this at the end of the semester:

engineering physics 2 (electricity, magnetism, light, and optics): B
digital systems engineering (logic theory): B / C
calc 3 (differential equations): D / F :| I had a bad experience in this class, first math class ever not to make A/B on.
physics 2 lab: B
physics 1 lab (didnt take it last semester): C

my gpa is gonna be crap at the end of this semester....

<---- should really be studying for his 3 quizzes in logic theory tomorrow (only hope of making a B)

Edit: MistaEng, dont feel nervous, its a well known fact that the first two years are weedout years at the Univ i attend, all the professors for my classes are hard-core researchers and prolly would rather gouge their eyes out with a blunt spoon than teach.

And to add to the thread: When the Student Affairs Office in Engineering starts passing out material on how to avoid a mental breakdown during finals time (also known as "dont snap and shoot people up")
