the IDE to Firewire adapter in the external enclosure.
Is there any way to buy this seperatley? I want to make my own external enclosure.

probably not.. becuaes i think its more than just a simple adapter inside.. i'm pretty sure it involves a lot of complex circuitry and stuff.

what you may be able to do if you want your own case for it is buy the whole thing, pop off the plastic case it comes with and put it in the custom encloser you build

well i wanted to know because, i didnt really want to spend that much on an external enclosure.

Yes you can. I know that Granite Digital has them, but they are $100. I saw a cheap 2 drive combo enclosure at compgeeks the other day for a lot less than that. You might want to check that out.

i've seen an ide to usb adapter, without the enclosure, but it cost $50.

But it's usb 1.1, which is slow, and not firewire ;-)
