My torrent downloads never get that high. The uploads are always maxed out though. Even if I set the cap it doesn't work quite right. I blame the metrosexuals.

I bet you are downloading pirated movies or software. The only non-pirated things I have ever seen on bittorent are Linux distibutions.

i consistently get over 130kb/sec download. my connection's download maxes out at around 150kb/sec. just make sure you open up the ports if you are behind a router/firewall. i use "burst!"

Most of Battlefield mods (DC, EOD, FH) are distributed through BT. On release days, server get so slow and queues so long that it's better to get them via BT.

well these speeds arent exactly normal for me... the torrent i'm on is an extremely popular one so thats why i'm getting it so fast.

but to make sure you get best speeds you should make sure you forward ports 6881-6999 if you have a router

I will try forwarding those ports when I get home tonight. How does it work if the ports aren't forwarded? What's the technicaly explanation for this? And what's burst?

before I opened the ports I got below 20kb/sec as well. I think without the ports opened, you make connections out for download and I guess that's not the primary way

burst! is a bittorrent client. It works very well. The speed cap actually works.

Ok I had to cycle the router, it works now. In your router control panel find port forwarding and enable it. Forward ports 6881-6999 to 192.68.1.xxx, whatever IP your machine was assigned.

Getting very good download speeds now- why don't they make this more obvious?

I've got an SMC router and I don't understand what the hell I'm supposed to do for opening the port. They have a trigger port and then the port range (I understand that) and then UDP and TCP. Does BT use both or just TCP?
