You know how they make you take a test to get your motorcycle licence?

Don't you think they should make people who buy LARGE trucks and SUV's take thye same kind of test.

Showing that they have basic handling skill's like PARKING, lane changing, etc.....!

When you get your motorcycle licence you have to navigate through cones in a parking lot. I think people who buy LARGE auto's should have to show the same handling abilities with their rides.

What do you all think?

"ok sir, heres the paperwork for your brand new 2002 ford f-350 crew cab dually long box truck, all you have to do is sign here and you can take delivery once you pass the large vechicle requirement at the DMV"
"WTF, screw this"

Good idea. I also think there should be a $20,000 luxury tax for the extra space and gas they consume.

Actually, I kinda enjoy riding on the asses of the little civics and cutting them off.

<------------------------proud owner of a $38,000 SUV. ;)

Actually, while I can appreciate your sentiments, we are not all like that. Also know some jerks who drive small cars. I'm a big guy and like having a large car.

When I took my motorcycle driving test all I had to do was ride my bike in a figure 8. That was the onlly driving requirement. It took about 15 seconds. State of California.

Why? The purpose of weaving through the cones is to demonstrate you can control and balance the bike. Why would you only have people who buy large trucks and SUVs take this weaving test? I've seen just as many bad drivers in cars as SUVs. I don't see what weaving through cones at low speeds would prove.

I think what you mean is have a different endorsement for large trucks/SUVs rather than the basic C class endorsement (at least that's how it is in California)... sorta what they have for motorcycles... M1 and M2... M1 is for bikes > 250cc, M2 is for bikes < 250cc, right? I just got my M1 license a few months ago so I should know this but I don't :p

Some sort of qualification would be nice.

When I got my NY State drivers license, I could have taken the road test on an automatic Ford Falcon on a sunny day in June. This would have entitled me to drive a truck of 18,000 pounds at night in a snow storm.

Not a pleasant thought.

I also think they should have ALL their kids and their kid's friends in the truck, while talking on the cell phone when they take the test.

Really put them to the test in REAL life situations!!

Is it just me, but most of the people who're whining about SUVs are the people who actually cant' afford them?
