Just about every interview I have had, the employer would boast things about the long hours, the sleepless nights and the messed up schedules you would have to work with. Like I would ask "So what is a typical work week?", and the reply would usually be "Around 60 hours with a lot of over time during a time crunch". Even if you are not going to be working, they just say it to hype the job, and weed out the lazy ones.
Well i went to a job interview about 4 months ago, for a university department. It was a programmer position, full time. I asked them the same question "What is the typical work week, and work hours?" Their reply was just so surprising. The guy calmly says "A little after 8 and a little before 5. Fridays are usually half days". I couldn't believe that answer.
I didn't get that job
