Actually, you need to go where there is a large immigrant population that distrusts law enforcement, preferably a Chinatown or large Hispanic presence. Try to find someone sypmathetic who'll give you shelter and STAY in that area. Work menial jobs, day to day.

You'll need a couple credit cards and some cash, first off...you could try pickpocketing in a low-policed part of town (go for people who you could clearly beat in a fight, and even so be careful), mugging (dangerous...they might be armed), or just going into the bars at night and stealing from inattentive people. Try to get as much CASH money as possible. Or you could try the traditional stealing from peoples' houses and/or garages, and pawning what you get. Don't make it too obvious, though! Only take a few high-money items, and only sell one item per pawn shop.
Steal a car (preferrably one that obviously doesn't get driven much, and something nearly-invisible like a 90's Corolla). Immediately go to a parking lot, and switch license plates with another car (preferrably another corolla). Switch a bunch of the other license plates around, too, just to confuse the issue. Using a CC, buy a whole bunch of gasoline containers, and fill them all with gasoline at a local station. Never use that card again. If you planned things right, you'll probably have enough gas to make it to the border. If not, drain another CC. Once across, start your new life.

We must assume that if youare on death row they would put out a warning that you escaped and every cop is looking for you. I would find the closest pay phone not in a populated area and call my friend paul. He is a crazy mofo, and the cops woudlnt be asking him about anything cause I dont talk to him that much. He would deff come pick me up and drive me wherever i wnated...
