I see all these posts about the fallacies of the war and the private and public effects on various individuals. Fact is, whatever fallout that many here are trying to amplify won't come about. You're reactionaries. Instead of focusing on the past, you need to discuss the future. What's next on the agenda and how can I have an impact? Anyone here trying to reverse the actions of the past couple of months by digging holes in the evidence is running a fool's errand.

These are some of the question that we should be tackling.

Can the art of dissuasion triumph in asymmetrical warfare (war of No Choice) and the war for Democracy?
Where will the Wheels of Fortune turn?
Under what aegis will Generation NEXT follow?
Can we continue to support the liberation of man in one form while looking the other way in another?

First, we can't discuss the future without focusing on the mistakes of the past. To do any less would be allowing those mistakes to be repeated. It would also let the people who created this mess off the hook. Why would we want to do that? So they can go on about the business of creating more of the same? So it's time for a full independent investigation into the well documented statements made by Bush and several Bush administration officials to get their invasion.

Let's discuss the future then. Four BILLION dollars per month just to maintain the current troop strength in Iraq. The likelihood, according to Rumsfeld, of more troops being sent to Iraq. The likelihood, according to Rumsfeld, of more troops dying in Iraq. But we knew all of that before this started. Add to that the cost of rebuilding the devastation we caused and are now liable for. I'm sure we can afford that. As well as repair the economic mess Bush created with his irresponsible tax cuts and failed economic policies.

Next on the agenda - time for Bush and Co. to pay the piper for the lies they told to create this mess. After removing these idiots from office we need to get the UN involved in rebuilding Iraq. If the rest of the world would even consider a part in the mess we created. We can't afford to do this alone. But that too was known before any of the unnecessary hostilities were begun.

This ridiculous neo-con policy of pre-emption must be stopped right now. How can we pre-emptively attack any sovereign nation when the intelligence used is cherry picked and skewed to fit the agenda of the people in charge of the attack? We are no better than Nazi Germany or Japan if we allow this to happen. They had policies of pre-emption. Explain to me the difference between theirs and ours. I'm sure they considered themselves the "good guys" while invading Poland or France or attacking Pearl Harbor. There is no difference. Only the names have changed. Instead of Germany and Japan it's the USA and UK now. Or so it would seem to the people of Iraq.

So here's what's next on the agenda and how you can have an impact. Demand an independent investigation into the statements of Bush and his administration and use of intelligence prior to the Iraq invasion so this doesn't happen again. Let the Iraqi people decide who will govern THEIR country and what form of government they will have. They are responsible for these decisions. After all, we did "liberate" them, didn't we? And get our troops the hell out of Iraq ASAP.

Anyone trying to build on the Bush administration's lies of the past couple of months by ignoring the evidence is running a fool's errand.

So you can see the future Dari? Ooooh, tell us all about it! Is it full of bombed-out countries and Bush & Co. swimming in a sea of black gold and valuable Haliburton contracts? Wow, nice dream Dari.

Yes, tell us where to send the bombs next. Chop chop. We're burnin' daylight here...

I think Dari thinks he's Winston Churchill. A common tendency of the frightened is to snuggle up to the confident, the certain, and the powerful never noticing that they themselves often play the same game. There is no such thing as safety, there is only love.

He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.

All you need is love...
