About six weeks ago I gave up soda. A 12 ounce can of Coke had 39 grams of carbs from sugars. My morning coffee, which is a quart measure, contains two shots of Irish Cream and according to the manufacturer that is 6.6g times 2.

Better to drink a drink than do the soda thing.

I have a cup of coffee every morning, but I would give it up in a second if someone told me I could never have soda again.

Meh, soda is overrated. I probably drink about 1 can a week.

Coffee on the other hand is awesome! Plus, can't get fat (or diabeetus) from drinking black coffee. Unfortunately, it is an expensive addiction.

And in comes the morning tilt..........sans-soda takes the lead!! ;)

Aside from the fact that sugar in excess is bad, I wonder why we instinctively associate either one with something "bad"??

If we're talking about artificial sweeteners, I believe most sweeteners have been taken off the "carcinogen" list. You'd have to ingest the equivalent of a tanker truck full of the stuff to make it a carcinogen at which point almost anything is a carcinogen.

Add to that the debate that nobody seems to be able to decide whether coffee is good/bad for you. (I think the last study is still that it's 'good' in small amounts).

Maybe neither (again, assuming diet soda) are actually bad for you in the first place??? (shrug)

Adios soda. Damn that shit's bad for you. I already basically drink nothing but water anyway.

I could do without them both. I used to drink Mountain Dew religiously, then I just... stopped buying it. Coffee I have very rarely here in the office, but not often. I have a mug of water right now, for instance.

Take them both. What do I get in return? :p

I could probably give up either if I wanted to but would prefer to keep soda. I drink less than a cup a day of each now.

Obviously, if you don't drink either, you've got superhuman powers of resistance & shouldn't be on ATOT anyway.

I guess this ends my short stay here... I do not drink coffee, and I stopped drinking soda about a year ago. Bye everyone!

I'm both a coffee and soda addict, and I've given up both in the past cold turkey (for a few months). I'm currently off coffee as soda is harder for me to quit.
