You have to admire this sort of commitment to alcohol.

NFL player (when he isn't suspended that is) Aldon Smith was arrested in March on charges of domestic violence against his then fiance. A known alcohol abuser, part of Smith's bail conditions were to give up drinking and wear a BAC ankle monitor. He showed up to get the monitor fitted while drunk. Really drunk. Heroically, monumentally drunk. Smith was at .40 when he went in which is 5 times the legal limit. It's the equivalent of the anesthesia level used for major surgery and would require a person of his size to consume about 25 drinks in the hour before being tested.

Aldon Smith really is the poster child for phenomenal young talent wasted away by incalculable idiocy

Sounds like something I would've done when I was in the depths of my alcohol addiction. I hope he gets some help.

You can't, that's well past the point of alcohol poisoning in most people. It takes a lot of alcohol over a lot of years to build up the kind of tolerance necessary to handle .40 without croaking in a pool of vomit. Just another example of how elite athletes are better than the rest of us.

I didn't get to see him play often but in his prime he was the closest thing to a Lawrence Taylor - type of defensive force I've ever seen.

Nobody could handle that guy one on one, and he would routinely blow up double teams and affect the opposing QB. Could have been an all-time great.

What a waste.

Who would think that long-time players of sports that literally make you retarded often do retarded things?

The guy is probably self-medicating from all the collective brain damage.

Heavy binge drinking (to the point of life-threatening blood alcohol levels) is almost an epidemic these days. It is scary to have a child in college due to the dangers of out of control binge drinking.

Sounds to me like he thought he was being baselined so he showed up really drunk to make sure he could drink freely.

These are the same people that purposely get a concussion before their baseline test so that they don't get removed from the game during the concussion protocol.
