is it a roommates responsibility to give the other roommate a call before bringing people over (like his parents/whomever)?

Of course, one needs time to clean the buds from the ashtray and remove the porn dvd's.

Parents yes, regular people no.

I agree with this... if you talk to your roommate enough he'd probably mention his parents coming. If it's just friends, who cares.

If he wants to bring his parents over, then I'd definitely say a call is in order. You don't want to embarass the roommate by leaving your bong out in plain sight or something. ;)

If they're just friends, then I don't see the need to call unless you specifically agreed not to have people over or something.

How about showing some fvcking respect and call me before you bring your parents/grandparents over.

I could care less about chris, tom, ali, or friends. I?d like to know before your mom/dad/grandparents come over, in case there?s a mess or something lying around that?s embarrassing or whatever.

I can bring whoever I want over and my friends can do the same.

2 out of 3 of us live too far away for parents to visit, and the one local roommate's parents never come around. (and if they did he would tell us cause we'd have to hide the bowls lying around the house.)

Man, your roomate can bring whomever he please over as long as it makes some sense. Some examples of a bad thing to do would be to invite a bunch of friends over and be rowdy while the other roomate is trying to get some sleep, but for the most part I would not care.

Anyone who thinks that a roomate should always tell them before they invite someone over is probably an anal a$$hole.

parents: yes; long-term guests: yes; anyone else: no.

though if you share a room, it's also a pretty good idea to warn them if your SO is going to be coming over/spending the night. always used to piss me off in college when my roommates would bring their girlfriends back to the room and have sex with them while I was in the room. had they bothered to give me a heads up, I'd have been more than happy to crash at with a friend/SO for the night and leave them the room for themselves.

hard to say, maybe discuss some guidelines with the roomate before deciding on calling every single time you want to bring ppl by.
maybe make limits like not on certain nights, or during certain hours. but should not have to call every single time, that's just plain annoying.

I'd be happy if my roommate brought his girlfriend back for me to have sex with

Since I suppose you didn?t really understand what I was asking before, let?s sum it up.

parents: yes; long-term guests: yes; anyone else: no.

Lately, I think you?ve forgotten that I pay half the rent. I have the right to know when parents/family are coming over, just like you have the right to know as well. It?s not like I?m asking for anything more complicated than a 30 second fvcking phone call.
