Basically, the job was with Linuxgruven. Pay $3150 to take a Linux Certification class, pass the tests, and get a job with them. Sounded good to me.
Well, I finished the class two weeks ago. Took the mandatory 1 week off before I could begin testing, passed both tests this past week. I was supposed to go tomorrow (Monday) morning to fill out forms to begin the hiring process. Well, it seems that a couple hours after I passed that second test on Friday that they shut down. They laid off 100 out of 106 offices according to this article.
There was something on /. about it on Saturday, which is how I found out. Lots of pay checks bounced on Friday, and it seems that the two guys that run the company are no where to be found. And, of course, I lost my job before I even got it (have a contract stating that after I pass the test that I'll begin working). Really bites. And since the company is out of business, the certification is probably worthless which means I need to go take more tests to get a different Linux certification if I want one.
Quick check on monster.com shows no jobs in the Atlanta area for Linux people with my level of experience (enough to get myself in trouble). Argh. So frustrating.
