Since it's now one year after the Y2K "disaster". Some of you have probably heard of Gary North. For those who haven't, he is this nutcake that was running around the country predicting the end of the world. He made big money on the talk show circuit and by selling survival crap.

I got to wondering if the doink's site was still up. Sure enough, it is! (NOTE: THIS IS A LINK) I thought sure that this scamster would have been run out on a rail. I'm sure he has to be in hiding somewhere.

I thought Y2K was some kind of new petroleum jelly type stuff. ;)

I have a Y2K Redneck t-shirt that my mother got me that says something like that.

I can't belive a site like that is still up.

You could probably take this Y2K disaster idea and repackage it say for example into something called the Debble and set an Institute for the Salvation from the Bebble, and do real well. I'll have to do a search and see if somebody already beat me to it.

Haha, I just read through the message board of one of the y2k is the end of the world sites. One guy sure was pissed afterwards, he replied to every message about how y2k was a scam with "DUMB ASS", even to the guy saying he was glad everyone was ok.

One really funny message, I'm half thinking the guy's serious:D:

I've got this thing licked.

I read all of your imput rergarding the Y2K preparedness thing and think, "Man, these guys are not even close to ready." I recently obtained a small rocket launcher and a case of c-4 which I will be storing on my minisub. I live on a piece of land in the ozarks and we have access to a 200 foot deep lake. I have had our minisub retro fitted with all manual switches and engineered it to use no computer data or circuits at all. It has room for four which is the same size of my family. The rocket launcher is a shoulder mount unit which I can use from the surface of the lake should I need to to defend my position. I also have started to stockpile weapons and amunition in a small lakeshore shelter which is only accessible by scuba. It contains 4years of rations and two coffee pots. I have 3 years worth of cigarettes and chocolate and plan to use what ever I don't smoke or eat as barterable currency items in the "New economy " that develops after the fall of the world as we know it. Both my daughters and my wife have been taking self defense classes and I have personally been through the rigors of life as a pro wrestler so I think from the standpoint of personal ability to defend ourselves we are set. I have begun the final stages of food gathering and have a contingency plan to raid the local stores should we wind up in dire staights. The blue prints for all of the local banks are accessible on the public records docket and I have a connection who can get all of these in my area so if money is an issue I tyhink we are covered even tyhough I havent personally made any income in the last two years because of the reamer "accident" at the mill. I have a lot of friends. So, don't even think about it. I have got this thing licked.

Or.. maybe they won't .. probably earth will be here no more around that time..

There used to be a GarySouth.com offered as a very funny rebuttal to Gary North. Looks like it no longer exists.

I think the statistic is that if you divide the amount of money spent on preparing for Y2K on every single individual...it comes out to $32. Aint that sad?
