hey,

I love the ti 89! it does everything. i'm doing inverse laplace transforms and it takes a while for some of them.

i heard of people overclocking their ti 89 by replacing a capacitor. anyone here ever actually do it? i don't see any articles of people saying, it works great. or it sucks, 2 + 2 is now 2.01324. lol

i would like to hear feedback of people who actually did it.

I did it with the TI83. It ran everything twice as fast, but it often became asynchronous with the screen controller and would garble everything up. (Random pixels across screen). Or it made games unplayable.

They are old de-classified Soviet Missile guidance computers, that hobbyists like to mod now days into fairly high performance calculators for crunching through large matrices.

You mean technical people actually use TI ?

I thought all good engineers and tech types used a real calculator, like a HP48.

RPN FTW! :D

Sorry, some of us don't operate on backwards moon logic :(

TI-89 FTW :)

yeah, I still have my old ti calculator...most of the keys are unreadable now...I've had it since 7th grade, so it's from, uh, (mumble mumble) cough nineteeneightyseven cough. Or older, not sure exactly when I got it.

edit, hmmmm, I'll see if I can get a pic and upload for you calculator overclockers out there...I wonder if it could calculate pi out to the 8th digit faster with a 100% oc...;)

Wow, my dif eq teacher doesn't let me use calculators but it would be nice to know how to do inverse laplace on the calc. Care to share? I have a 89 titanium as well. Thanks

the whole point about the OP is speed, and I'm pretty sure the TI89 trounces the HP48 in that respect

I lost all of my games for the Ti-89. I loved the tank game where one entered in coordinates.

Now all I can do with it is math and drawing :(

I've had to fix my ti89 be resoldering the screen connections back onto the PCB back in 2002.

how fast are those portable internet devices that have been selling for <$200? I wonder if it's feasible to turn those into an all purpose device for engineers. Think about it, instead of the graphing calculator layout and interface, which I dislike, you can have a color touchscreen with regular windows apps too. It always felt weird having to go back and forth between computer and calculator.
btw, aren't hp49 and hp50 better than ti-89 titanium and cheaper at the same time?
